Kalki 2898 AD, which has been eagerly awaited by not just Prabhas fans but also film lovers, has finally come out in front of the audience this Thursday after several installments. Starring Prabhas in the lead role, the film also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone and Disha Patani in other key roles.
With the teaser and trailer, there was a craze for the film in a range as there were huge expectations on the film. And to what extent is this craze in the audience real? Now let’s see in our review how much the film has impressed the audience.
Kalki 2898 AD Story
The story of the film takes place in Kalki 2898 AD. Kashi is the last city in the world. In this order, Yaskin (Kamal Haasan) captures all the resources and creates a special area called the complex next to the same Kashi and leads it all by himself. On the other hand, in sambhala, people from all parts of the world are living without the knowledge of the complex and fighting against them that it is not right for the complex to capture such resources.
There is a rule that people living in Kashi have to pay one million units to get into the complex. Bhairava (Prabhas) earns one million units and works as a bounty hunter to get inside. He accidentally gets a big bounty while hitting small bounties. Sumaiti (Deepika), who escaped from the complex, finds out that if she is caught, he will get five million units and follows her. However, she is protected by Aswathama (Amitabh Bachchan).
Why did the deathless Aswadhama remain in hibernation for 6000 years with the curse of Lord Krishna? Why is he ready to save Sumaiti? Why is the whole of Shambhala waiting for her? What did Bhairava do to her in the end? Did Aswathama stop Bhairava or not? To know, the entire film has to be seen on the big screen.
Analysis
Ever since we came to know that a film titled ‘Kalki’ directed by Nag Ashwin has been launched, everyone has been eagerly waiting to see how the film will be. In addition to that, the interest in the film has increased with the promotions that there is a link to the Mahabharata. The beginning of the film begins with the Mahabharata episode.
The film, which started with the recent conversation between Aswathama and Lord Krishna, is interesting at the beginning. However, when the episode is over, when the story begins on the streets of Kashi, there is no understanding of what is happening. In fact, there is no doubt that the audience had a feeling that the story was well-executed as the first off tried to establish the characters throughout the first half. However, from the pre-interval, the story bounces back.
The story that started after the interval shows nag ashwin’s directorial talent by running in a way that no one could have imagined. It is interesting to note that some of the characters in the Mahabharata have been screened with a fictional story set in 2898, about six to seven hundred years from now. However, it must also be said that the full outcome of the film depends on the way the audience connects with it.
In fact, Nag Ashwin has been trying to register with the audience from the very beginning what the story of the film is. He has also been releasing some videos to this effect. However, after the start of the film, nag ashwin’s videos come to mind at once. In fact, everyone knows that Aswathama is Chiranjeevi. If there is a reason for such a person to be alive, the way Nag Ashwin has written what the consequences have happened will be awe-inspiring for the audience.
Most importantly, it is commendable that such an idea has not only come up but also brought it as a visual form. The makers have taken a lot of care in terms of visuals. Especially the second half fights are no less than Hollywood movies.
Performance of actors
Apart from Prabhas, amitabh bachchan and kamal haasan should be talked about mainly. Prabhas’ character Bhairava is as interesting as another different side of the second half. Doing such a role is another crucial moment in Kamal Haasan’s career. Amitabh Bachchan’s character suited his cutout. Some of the fight scenes between Amita and Prabhas are awe-inspiring.
Disha Patani is limited to just a small role. Deepika Padukone has got a role that has scope to act. Dulquer Salmaan, Mrunal Thakur, Malavika Nair, RGV, Rajamouli and many others came and shone in one scene at a time. When it comes to the technical team, visuals are the life of the whole film.
The team has succeeded in making a grand visuals that we are watching a Hollywood movie without the feeling that we are watching a Telugu film anywhere. Some of the songs are good when it comes to music but some are not as impressive. However, the background score is well set to suit the film but the background score may still have taken the initiative.
The cinematography is excellent. The camera performance was seen in some of the fight scenes. However, it would have been nice to have taken care of the length. The story can be driven by reducing the middle of the first off-the-bore but for some reason the director did not back down in terms of length. Some of the dialogues are thought-provoking.
Kalki’s 2898 AD mythology is a combination of Si-fi movie. It takes you to a different world and brings it to a different world.
Internationally, a respected film journalist on X hailed it as “outstanding,” likening its visual grandeur to sci-fi epics like ‘Blade Runner’ and ‘Mad Max.’ The showdown between Prabhas and Amitabh Bachchan was hailed as epic, while Deepika and Disha dazzled viewers with their charm. With over 1.9 million tickets sold across India and predictions of a record-breaking Rs 100 crore opening domestically, Kalki 2898 AD is poised to redefine box office success. Advance bookings, especially in Telugu, have already surpassed Rs 50 crore, setting the stage for a global box office triumph.
